Commodity Tax

The expression "commodity tax" in Canada generally refers to consumption based taxes, such as the goods and services tax and the harmonized sales tax (the GST and HST, respectively), provincial sales tax (The PST), and other excise taxes and duties.

At Taylor McCaffrey LLP, we advise on all aspects of GST and PST, including registration, planning, risk management and compliance. We also assist clients with GST and PST disputes with government authorities, including audits, objections and appeals to the Tax Court of Canada.

Our lawyers are also familiar with the HST that applies in certain provinces. Our membership in the State Capital Group (SCG) means we can call on legal experts from partner law firms across Canada and around the world to assist our clients.
