Before You Sign Your Severance Package,
Get Clear Legal Advice
A fixed-fee severance package review by Peter Mueller - employment and litigation counsel in Manitoba and Nunavut.
If you’ve been terminated or laid off, we will review your severance package, explain your legal entitlements, and help you decide whether the offer should be accepted or challenged.

Termination is stressful, and severance packages are often presented with tight deadlines and little explanation.
This service is a limited-scope legal engagement designed to give you clear, timely advice on the severance package you have been offered without committing to ongoing legal fees or litigation.
The fixed-fee review includes:
- Review of your severance package, employment contract, termination letter, and release
- Assessment of your entitlements under applicable employment law
- Consideration of factors such as:
- Length of service
- Role and seniority
- Compensation and benefits
- Age and availability of comparable employment
- Circumstances of termination
- Clear explanation of whether the offer appears reasonable or potentially deficient
- Practical advice on your options and next steps
This severance review is a stand-alone, limited engagement.
It is limited to:
- Reviewing the severance package you have been offered; and
- Advising you on your legal position and available options.
It does not include:
- Negotiating with your employer
- Communicating with your employer or their lawyer
- Commencing a wrongful dismissal claim or other litigation
If further negotiation or legal action is appropriate, that would require a separate engagement, which we may or may not agree to take on depending on availability and the circumstances of the matter.
You are under no obligation to proceed beyond the review.
